#157-Thoughts on being Great

Every great person was once a wannabe.

Great people know how to make other people feel great.

Great people praise my efforts; others criticize my shortcomings.

#156-Thoughts on being Honest

It is easy to accept someone who is a little "rough on the edges" if they are honest.

Honest men who strive for justice in a corrupt society may be crushed by dishonest men.

#155-Thoughts on being Little

It is the little things that count – when the doctor gives you medication you take it little by little, every day.

The little things do count – you use a little match to start a big fire, you can’t sit on a needle and you can’t walk with sand in you shoes.

#154-Thoughts on being Small

Small things have value too – think of pins, keys, and matches.

Don’t underestimate size; small keys open huge doors and little matches start great fires.

Ironically, many small words speak volumes when used alone: No. Go. Yes. Stop. Attack. Retreat.

#153-Thoughts on being Successful

The more you read the more you will be successful.

A truly successful person is drawn to the future not driven by the past.

A successful parent is one who makes his/her children happy – but not at the expense of their values.

#152-Thoughts on being Rich

Even the rich and famous die.

All people are created equal; some may be rich or poor, tall or short, thin or fat but the defining criterion are birth and death. All people, even you and me, will experience both in this lifetime.

#151-Thoughts on Contribution

The impact of a small contribution is more profound when there is a great need.

Ninety-nine cents will never be equal to a dollar. Without that last penny it will always be incomplete. Never underestimate your contribution.

#150-Thoughts on Coins

Bravery and stupidity are not two sides of the same coin.

Every coin has two sides, even when it is nailed to a wall.

Every coin has two sides and they are usually different from each other.

#149-Thoughts on Drinking

Anyone could drink more than they should and many people do.

Taxes are used to employ police officers to protect us from ourselves – drinking and driving, speeding, public intoxication.

#148-Thoughts on Spouses

You should be concerned if your spouse has questionable intentions towards your children.

If a superior asks personal questions about a subordinate's spouse, their motives should be questioned.

Many men and women buckle under the stress of having a spouse yet some brave souls opt to have more than one.

#147-Thoughts on Husbands

Should a husband affront his children to appease his wife?

A good husband knows something about everything. A better husband knows everything about everything. The best husband keeps his knowledge to himself or he becomes Mr. Noah - short for Mr. Know-it-all.

#146-Thoughts on Relationships

Many people fall for phony promises and ruin good relationships.

Day and night have a platonic relationship; they meet twice every day.

The pages of history are littered with failed relationships yet some brave souls opt to have concurrent relationships.

Some people leave loving caring relationships to search for independence. When they achieve it they realize the folly of their quest.

#145-Thoughts on Trouble

You don't have to go looking for trouble. It will find you wherever you are.

We are rarely troubled by the words we never said but we are often troubled by the words we have said.

#144-Thoughts on Teaching

Visitors from dominant cultures teaching locals to speak English result in varied pronunciation of words.

Dominant cultures influence variation in the pronunciation of words in lesser developed cultures when visitors teach new words to locals.

Children, especially daughters, need the basics (food, clothes and shelter) PLUS a good education and parents to teach them high moral values by example. This, not a manicure, will give them all the self-esteem they need to lead successful lives.

#143-Thoughts on being Happy

Everyone will be happy if we all do what is expected of us.

We'll both be happy if you do what is required of you and allow me to do what is required of me.

At the very least, we would all be a little happier, if we all did what we can to make each other happy.

#142-Thoughts on Excuse

A poor excuse has no value.

If you must make an excuse, at the very least, make it believable!

A man who does not stand up to his responsibilities is a sad excuse for a man.

#141-Thoughts on Haste

Make haste to create your legacy for there is little time left – even if you live to be one hundred years old.

Whenever a loved one asks for your love, your time or your help, make haste to give it to them. If you delay, they will find it elsewhere. There is no shortage of ruthless people waiting to capitalize on your failure to act.

#140-Thoughts on Solutions

When the solution appears to be very complex – think again – you may find a better solution.

It is always better to state the facts clearly and invite your opponent to negotiate a "win-win" solution.

#139-Thoughts on Excitement

It is virtually impossible for anyone to be excited about nothing.

Everything in life is time limited. Euphoria will sometimes last a few seconds and excitement a few minutes.

#138-Thoughts on Emails

People who write short emails are effective communicators.

What do we learn from a curt email reply? We should never send curt emails.

#137-Thoughts on Quotes

All quotes about a topic are not complimentary.

Great people are often quoted for using few words to make notable statements.

Judging by the quotes authored by "Unknown" and "Anonymous," if these were individuals they’d be highly educated.

#136-Thoughts on being Different

We could both be better than each other at different things.

I may be living with an impostor – same name as the person I married but with a very different mindset.

Even the finest cars need to be tuned up for it to perform as it should - it is no different with marriages.

#135-Thoughts on being your Best

Focus on doing your best and let others set their own quality standards.

Being the best is far more rewarding than being the biggest!

Don’t rush God; He knows what is best for you!

#134-Thoughts on Yourself

If you need something done quickly, do it yourself.

You must like yourself if you want others to like you.

#133-Thoughts on Rules

Some people like to make their own rules – they go against the norm.

Those who learn to conform to the rules could enjoy the journey and reach their intended destination.

#132-Thoughts on Pain

The "system" rewards carelessness with pain and suffering.

A great morning for baby boomers is one without aches and pains.

Don't propagate rumors, they are hardly ever truthful and almost always inflict pain.

#131-Thoughts on Fighting

Never fight with someone if you know that you are wrong.

Learn to make people fight for you instead of against you.

Stop fighting when you win the battle or you may end up losing the war.

When you fight with your spouse someone could get hurt; it could even be you.

#130-Thoughts on Sex

Decent people don't talk about sex in public.

Never fight with your spouse; it could affect your sex life.

Sex is a highly therapeutic activity for men - it eliminates insomnia.

Sex is a time-limited activity that yields unlimited pleasure and satisfaction.

#129-Thoughts on Marriage

Marriages begin to fail when respect leaves the relationship.

Husbands and wives who treat each other like kings and queens will enjoy a happy marriage.

When unfaithfulness enters a marriage, good husbands become "nasty dogs" and good wives become "stinking whores" before the dust settles.

#128-Thoughts on Destroying

You don't want to be like gunpowder. To work well it destroys itself.

Parents, who sit passively when they should take control, eventually destroy their family.

#127-Thoughts on Create

It is relatively easy to fix, modify or update something you created.

Successful parents devote their lives to helping their children to become the men and women God created them to be.

It is truly remarkable to see that God was able to create each of us different from each other and yet similar to each other in infinite ways.

#126-Thoughts on Task

Computers will let you know if they can’t complete a task.

Knowing what to do and how to do it is sometimes more important than doing the task itself.

Doing nothing all day is the hardest of all tasks; it could weaken the strongest of all God's people.

#125-Thoughts on Destiny

Your destiny is something no one could take from you.

Since the beginning of time, no one has been able to take that which was destined for another. Fear not; it will not happen in your lifetime.

#124-Thoughts on Moment

Live in the moment - forget what you lost and enjoy what you have.

The present is but a fleeting moment but it is the only place where things actually happen.

One of these days, you will realize that I was only seeking your best interest. God willing, I will be around to share that moment with you.

#123-Thoughts on the Future

Don’t question God; He created the future!

On some future date you and I will have to leave everyone and everything behind and go to be with the Lord.

The world survived to this day without other great men, there is no question that it will do just fine without you in the future.

#122-Thoughts on Vision

Vision helps us to develop a mental image of a desired future before making it a reality.

People love to follow "natural" leaders. Unfortunately, some natural leaders have limited vision.

#121-Thoughts on Achievement

Mankind has not yet achieved anything even remotely close to God's accomplishments.

There is a direct correlation between our level of academic achievements and our future.

Perfection is the state where you have achieved all there is to achieve. This means there is no room for growth.
